Overview

The Analyze Annual Report (10K, 20F) action enables you to extract key insights and data points from a company's latest annual financial report filing. It is designed to quickly surface the most important information from these lengthy documents, which are critical for understanding a company's financial health, business operations, risk factors and future outlook.

By simply providing the company's website domain, this action will automatically retrieve their most recent 10K or 20F report and analyze the full text to pull out key elements. You can also optionally specify additional focus areas to include in the analysis. The output is a structured summary containing the essential facts and figures, saving significant time and effort compared to manual review.

Use Cases

  • Quickly get up to speed on a company - Annual reports provide a comprehensive overview of a business. This action lets you rapidly distill the key points without getting bogged down in the full filing. Useful for investors, analysts, researchers and more.

  • Identify risks and opportunities - Annual reports discuss potential risks, legal proceedings, market challenges and growth areas. Surface these sections to efficiently assess a company's positioning and future prospects.

  • Monitor a company over time - Pull data from a company's annual filings each year to track how key indicators and commentary have trended. Spot changes in financial trajectory, strategic priorities, risk profile, etc.

  • Augment other financial research - Combine annual report insights with data from earnings reports, analyst coverage, industry news and alternative data sources to build a robust understanding of a company.

Inputs

  • Company Domain - The website URL for the company whose annual report you want to analyze. This is used to identify the correct filing to retrieve.

  • Additional Research Focus (optional) - Specify any particular topics, data points or sections you want the analysis to emphasize. For example: "competitive landscape" or "executive compensation". Allows you to tailor the output to your interests.

Outputs

The action output is a JSON object containing:

  • result - Structured summary of key insights from the annual report, covering major sections like business overview, financial highlights, risk factors, legal proceedings, etc. Formatted for readability.

  • status - Indicates if the analysis completed successfully or encountered an error.

  • statusMessage - Provides additional detail on the job status, such as the specific error message if applicable.

Handling Errors

  • No annual report found - If the action is unable to locate a 10K or 20F filing for the provided company, it will return an error status and message. Confirm the company domain is correct.

  • Partial report used - In some cases, if a full 10K/20F isn't available, the action may analyze a 10Q quarterly report or other financial filing instead. The statusMessage will indicate this.

  • Unexpected errors - If the action encounters any other unexpected errors during execution, it will return an error status and details in the statusMessage. Retry the analysis or contact support for assistance.

Tips for Best Results

  • Use the official company website domain

  • Be as specific as possible with additional focus areas

  • Combine annual report data with other sources for richer insights

  • Run the analysis annually to monitor company progress over time
